Fully Walkable Secret-fix Roofing Solution
River-Therm® has an unparalleled track record in some of the most demanding climatic conditions in the world. CA Building Products has supplied River-Therm® to the UK market since 2004 with projects varying in size from 50 – 100,000m2.
With greater demands being placed on maximum usable space and where overall building height is an issue for planning purposes, the River-Therm® secret-fix roofing system is the logical option.
Suitable for use on a wide range of building applications, the system allows clients and architects a multitude of design possibilities. Low pitch and/or large radius roofs are possible with single length panels, either factory or site rolled, to suit the projects requirements.
Installed by simple foot pressure, River-Therm® offers accelerated installation without compromise and requires no specialist machinery, unlike many other secret-fix and standing seam solutions.
River-Therm® can be used on roofs with pitches of 1° after deflection at panel ends, on self-curved roofs down to 30 metre radius and on waveform applications.
Ponding. Not a problem.
The drainage channel is one of the key benefits of River-Therm®. All standing seam secret fix roofs are designed to breathe through the side lap. This is fundamental to the overall success of the system; however, history has proven that where air can flow so can water. In a storm, water can be slowed or stopped as it runs off the roof, with nowhere to go the water rises and the profile is quickly submerged. The drainage channel collects any water passing the side lap and takes it away into the gutter eliminating the risk of leaks into the building.
The system is available in Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® from Corus, pre-painted, plain and stucco embossed aluminium, stainless steel and copper.
All materials within the River-Therm® system are fully recyclable to enable low ‘cradle to cradle’ carbon footprint, with a net commercial benefit on scrap values at end of life. The Therma-quilt non-combustible insulation is supplied with zero Global Warming Potential and zero Ozone Depletion Potential.
The system is supported by a comprehensive training regime from CA Building Products’ Technical Department, which offers in-house training, on-site inductions and detailed design for installers.
River-Therm® Rolling to Suit Your Projects Requirements
Whether it’s due to limited space on site or a requirement for a 180 metre long roof panel the River-Therm® rolling mill has been specifically designed to offer clients, specifiers and contactors a number of options for getting their materials to roof level.
The River-Therm® secret-fix roofing solution can be produced to the same exact standards whether it is rolled under factory conditions or on site at the project location itself. Unlike many competing manufacturers who use compact, light engineered rollformers to produce their products on site, River-Therm® is rolled on a fully engineered, factory specification production unit, wherever the location.

River-Therm® standard build up
Factory Rolled Panels
Generally required for smaller projects where panels can be produced in our factory at Evenwood, County Durham and delivered to site for either immediate loading onto the roof or stacking at ground level. This method has little impact on site other than the space for transport and offloading equipment.
- Standard lengths can be supplied up to 14000mm (extended trailers up to 23000mm)
- Packs are supported on all sides with timber allowing them to be stacked on site
- Quick lead times subject to material availability
- Can be supplied complete with lifting beam for longer panel lengths
- Up to 1,600m2 delivered on a standard length trailer
Eaves Level Rolling
One of the most critical aspects of material production whether in the factory or on site is speed. Rolling at eaves level using the River-Therm® factory specification mobile rollforming mill, does not compromise the speed or quality of the River-Therm® sheet. We can produce any sheet length required, with limitations being set by the size of the coil only, thus reducing risks associated with on-site manual handling.
- Fully walkable & Non-Fragile liners allow the roof to be quickly covered so internal works can commence, providing a safe working environment for the installation team
- Over 4,000m2 of River-Therm® can be produced per day
- Panel lengths are limited only by the size of the coils used
- The River-Therm® spacer system is installed to enable the panels to be rolled over the roof, virtually eradicating risk from friction.
- Packing materials (other than rope) and storage facilities are not required
Site Ramp Rolling
Ramp rolling is primarily used when space on site is very restricted, preventing eaves level rolling from taking place. Ramps, which are widely available for hire across the UK, can be situated onsite for long periods of time at a relatively low cost providing there is space available.
- Long length sheets can be roll-formed directly onto the roof
- Installed over walkable liners the roof can be covered prior to the arrival of the mill
- Production of up to 4,000m2 per day is easily achievable
- Ramp can be set up prior to the arrival of the rollformer allowing production to start quickly
- Panels are secured directly to spacer system meaning no special packing materials are required
Ground Level
Where projects are too long for factory rolling or if the size of the project would require numerous deliveries to site, consequently increasing transport costs and the projects CO2 emissions, then ground level rolling on site may be a better option. The fully engineered, factory specification River-Therm® mobile rollforming mill arrives on site and ready to roll straight from the back of the trailer.
- Fewer deliveries to site, on larger projects
- Long length sheets can be produced
- Lifting beam available for panel lengths up to 36 metres
- Sheets can be produced and stored on the site ready to lift
- Virtually no setup time is required from arriving on site to rolling the first panel
The River-Therm® secret-fix roofing solution offers full system guarantees of up to 25 years for coated aluminium external weather sheets and up to 40 years for coated steel. PVDF coated aluminium and Corus Colorcoat HPS200® Ultra coated steel offer clients and specifiers piece of mind when making their selection. Working closely with other manufacturers CA Building Products is able to ensure these same guarantees are available for other aspects of the projects design i.e. rooflights, gutters, etc.
The River-Therm® system is also available with the Corus Confidex Sustain® Guarantee, ensuring all of the unavoidable carbon emissions created throughout the entire life of the River-Therm® cladding system, cradle to cradle, is offset by investing in environmental projects worldwide.
Cummins Power, Ramsgate
With the introduction of FIT’s (Feed-in Tariffs) in April 2010, companies using renewable technologies that generate power, like PV’s and wind turbines, will be paid for every kW of electricity produced. Prior to this, payback on these types of renewable’s were often greater than the life expectancy of the system, however this is now set to change.
Using EliosSolar PV in conjunction with the River-Therm® roof system provides our clients with the ability to turn their roofs into mini power stations which will not only reduce the buildings energy costs but could even see them generating a profit. EliosSolar PV is designed to be installed at any stage of the building’s life meaning it’s the ideal solution for both the new build and retro-fit market.
EliosSolar PV is a thin film laminate amorphous photovoltaic panel that allows solar energy to be converted into usable electricity, providing a renewable solution while reducing the energy costs associated with the building.
The unique design of EliosSolar PV means the panel is bonded to its own metal tray and then clipped into the roof systems external profile.
Installing renewable systems to your building is a logical decision to both reduce energy costs whilst at the same time reducing your CO2 emissions.
