An Evolution in Time and Spacer.

If the insulant breaks down between the external sheet and the spacer system, wind loads acting upon the building could then cause the outer cladding sheets to become loose over a period of time.
2001 saw CA Building Products introduce the high density thermal break pad secured to the outer flange of the spacer, which effectively eliminated any risks associated with loose sheets.
Today, the spacer system has again evolved. The thermal break pad previously fitted to the outer flange has been replaced by an exceptionally rigid thermal break pad and introduced into the middle of the construction. The thermal break pad has been tested as a standalone product in other applications.
Traditionally a glass or rock mineral fibre firewall would be designed with the insulation dressed over the outer flange of the spacer system in order to achieve insulation integrity performance. To ensure the firewall preserved its fire integrity the insulation had to remain at 8 mm thick even after the installation of the outer cladding.
Both of CA Building Products Firewall systems within the Fire-Tight® range now include the new spacer system. For further information please contact CABP Technical Services Department.
