CA Building Products helps rebuild Weston Super Mare Pier

CA Building Products have recently completed work with cladding contractor Yorkshire Sheeting on the rebuild of The Grand Pier in Weston Super Mare. The historic 104 year old pier was devastated by fire on 28th July 2008 and is currently being rebuilt for a summer 2010 reopening.
CA Building Products supplied fabrications including gutters, downpipes, fascias, soffits and flashings for the £39m three story development, which includes a 300ft tower with a moving deck, a 4D cinema, a technicolour wave shaped roof and several state of the art function rooms.
During the project CA Building Products worked closely with Yorkshire Sheeting on the Stucco Aluminium fabrications; developing samples and discussing warranties of materials and life expectancies. CA Building Products are no stranger to Yorkshire Sheeting as Neil Alderson, CA Building Products Commercial Manager explains:
“We have worked with Yorkshire Sheeting on numerous prestigious projects in the past such as Royal Mails distribution centre in Swan Valley. A tremendous amount of hard work and preparation resulted in the award of this project which gave us both the opportunity to demonstrate our technical and design capabilities on such a GRAND scale. The unique location meant that service was key not only to achieve programme but also at times to beat the weather. CA Building Products were able to deliver goods to site ahead of schedule.”
The challenging location did not hinder Yorkshire Sheeting as Steve Long, Business Development Manager, commented:
“Over recent years we have predominantly focused on the industrial warehouse sector, however we feel this project showcases the depth of knowledge and experience garnered over our long trading history.
The location has given us numerous challenges but with forward thinking and a proactive attitude we managed to succeed and believe this demonstrates we are capable of undertaking cladding projects in all sectors of the market place
We are delighted with the results and are looking forward to the grand opening this summer.”
